Kathrein India Private Limited started out as Omega Telecommunication Suppliers Pvt. Ltd. in 1996-97. The company was incorporated by Mr. Vinit Phatak and was the authorized distributor for Kathrein Werke KG, Germany to distribute and sell their products in the Indian market.
Turnover
Omega Telecom achieved a first-year turnover of seven hundred thousand Rupees (Rs. 7.4 lakhs = US$ 16K). Nine years later, Kathrein India has offices in Mumbai and New Delhi, and a 2004-05 turnover of over one billion Rupees (Rs. 100 crores = US$ 22 million)

Kathrein India is responsible for the Sales and support for the growing regional market consisting of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, & the Maldives.
In base station antennas, which are used to provide cellular network coverage, Kathrein India has achieved a market share of over 70% in India with almost all wireless operators (GSM and CDMA) and OEMs as its customers. Given the serious expansion plans of customers such as Bharti, Hutch, Idea, Reliance, Tata, BSNL and MTNL, we are poised to continue our rate of growth for the next few years.
In the Broadcast industry too Kathrein India is a market leader. In the past three years we have won a majority of the Doordarshan orders for High Power VHF and UHF Terrestrial TV and DVB-T Transmitting Antenna Systems.
With this joint venture in place, Kathrein India has also introduced to the Indian market Kathrein’s complete range of products for the Cable and Satellite industry which include Set Top Boxes, Satellite Antennas, DTH Antenna Systems and Receivers, Cable Line Amplifiers and a variety of Test Equipment.
With over 4500 products concerning modern telecommunications, the KATHREIN-Werke KG is not only the oldest but also the largest manufacturer of antenna system technology.
Merino Relation Ship
On 19th Aug 2008, MERINO signed Kathrein India as customer for implementing Infor ERP LN at Kathrein.
Kathrein management formed a dedicated team headed by Mr. Vinit Pathak (Managing Director) for selection of most suitable ERP system for the organization and whole group. After going through 4 months of rigorous evaluation process Kathrein selected Infor ERP LN as the product to be implemented. Others products evaluated by Kathrein were SAP and Microsoft Dynamics. Kathrein management team selected MERINO as Partner-2-Progress in the ERP initiative after getting an excellent feedback from existing customers of MERINO (Sanden Vikas, CSIL, Spicer, Kent RO). On the feedback from the existing customers, it was great to hear from the Mr Vinit Pathak that they are ready to pay a premium to associate Merino as their implementation partner
